I'm new

Post by Rob88 »

Hi all newbie here, just got a 1982 mk2 GTi needs a bit of work so will keep me busy.
Don't know much about Scirocco's so will probably be asking a lot of questions over the next few months.First question is,it needs new brakes are the rear brakes the same as the MK1 golf and where is the best place to get them? thanks Rob.

Welcome mate. Drum brakes on the rear. Try GSF or Euro Car Parts, if you become a paid up member you get a discount at GSF, well worth the annual subscription on here.

Thanks for the welcome and advice guys  .Got the car from a lad in Deal/Kent.He's got his own one and was going to customise this one but changed his mind.Havn't got any pics yet as it's laid up in the garage waiting for me to start. It starts and runs fine but hasn't got any rear brakes, needs a new screen and a few other parts but seems solid enough. From what I can see only needs 2 very small 1" patches welding on the inner wings.120,000mls,full(mostly VAG)service history up to 117,000,original bill of sale and loads of paperwork, original keys,4 spare doors,2 spare tailgates,2 spare wings, spare rear side glass, full body kit.He wanted rid of it so he let me have it for scrap money :shocking: Will get pics up as soon as poss.
Just one thing are the rear brakes the same as a MK1 Golf???

Ah, I think it's this one, then:

What interior do you have with it? I take it it's not the original GTI one?

I'm having a bit of a problem getting the rear brakes at the minute.I have found out that it is self adjusting but i'm not sure if it has a brake pressure regulator or not.The manuel I have says it should be just in front of the rear axle,i've looked but can't see anything that resembles it would it be obvious to see??

Yes, that's the original interior and they're very hard to come by (but only of real interest to GTI owners).

Not sure about the brake pressure regulator.
