16v Non PS pulley setup Q's

Thought I had this 16v engine lark clear in my head... Not yet it would seem

Ok... As we all know, power steering in rocco's is few and far between, so you dont need the PS pump. But the KR has a pump which also acts as the tensioner for the belt. Currently my engine has PS and Aircon which I do not need. so I am wanting to swap it all over.. Its also running on a Multigroove Serpentine belt so uses a different bottom pulley, alternator and Alternator mount with a Tensioner on it (i think its a mk3 golf setup with aircon).

What setup, from what engine/car can you use to combat this problem? I want V-belt, which drives just the Alternator and water pump only.

Help me please...

You can swap the pulleys for the standard 8v ones and run the 8v v belt with no problems!

The alternator mount im not sure on tho, i'm running a standard KR one with no problems

I couldn't get my 8v ones to line up with the 16v engine, I needed to run the 16v crank pulley, so I just welded the 16v PAS pulley to the 16v Water pump pulley so they both spin when the belt spins. It was proving very difficult to find a non PAS 16v pulley.

My 16v conversion (6a bottom end, KR head) was already running the V-belt set-up, but for power steering, so all double -pulley'd.

8V ones wont fit, neither will the random assortment of Audi pulleys I had in teh shed! Either the holes wont line up, or the 'offset' to be in line with the other pulleys is wrong.

I ordered a new water pump pulley from VW, (can get you teh part no if you like when I get home) and left the double pulley on at the crank. You can get the one for the crank too, but when I asked, it was a fairly horrendous price, as it has some rubber anti-vibration bushing or something. You may have no choice but buy it if you are transferring over to V belt completely however.

Hope that makes sense, give me a shout if you need anymore info

One question though, are the pulleys like pick n mix in that you can swap them as required?

I woulda thought so if only to save cost and increase efficiency, however I wanna use the PS pulley on the crank shaft as a timing wheel if I can't find a decent 72 tooth sprocket of the right diameter to fit inside my dizzy :D
