Hey all having major problems (AGAIN ) Okay so may aswell give ye all the low down i seem to have a lot of rust in my fuel thank how i know this is iv used 4 fuel filters in two weeks :( so i presume my options are whip of the tank and somehow clean it?? Or perhaps by a new one somewhere ??? all advice majorally appreciated as usual cause it would appear ye guys are better then my haynes manual haha

Filler neck could be knackerd dude and piling rust in.

A mate had similar problem and just took out sender unit and cleaned what he could from there with tank virtually dry. Then he threw a couple of magnets in so that any other wee bits of rust would stick to them!

Okay and would that be a common enough thing replacing the filler neck?i put 30 quid worth of petrol in it you know to see if filling it would help with the problem

Magnet on a bit of string will help clear it all out for sure... did you check the filler neck?

Filler neck is fine :D question how do i get the magnet all the way to the tank with out it sticking to something haha :O

Have you actually taken it off? It might seem fine at a first glance, but if it's never been replaced, chances are that's the source of your rust. The only other sensible option is that the tank itself is rusty, but that's a more complicated job.

Drop it in through the top under the back seat

Oh thats good thinking :D is there a rubber seal you have to replace each time you open that do funky??i will take the filler neck off and look properly also :D

Something else that you can do is to put a fine mesh over the outlet pipe in the fuel tank (I bought a cheap metal tea strainer and cut out the mesh), this will stop any larger bits of rust.

Be handy if i could just drill up the middles of it and then magically be able to safely plug it haha
