Anti Roll Bar - do we REALLY need it?

My anti-roll bar fell off yesterday - the side brackets have rusted away so the bar was dragging along the ground at the ends.
I've just taken it to the garage, who say they really struggle to get replacement brackets so havejust taken the thing off altogether. They reckon you don't really notice much of a difference without it. What do you think? Do I need to lose the Schumacher approach to roundabouts now, or shall I proceed as usual?

a good set of Anti roll bars imo are worth more than lowering springs...
more body roll = loss of grip on one or more wheel = less control at high speed cornering =
out of interest, is it front or back that has fallen off?

You can fit them matey, added them to my GT. You need to replace the front wishbone brackets that are nearest the rear of the car for ones that have antiroll bar barckets on, then you need the brackets that bolt to the front wishbones and the clamps that clip to the rear axle. All available from

I would try the dealer, I ftted 2 new anti roll bar brackets that come complete with the wishbone bush holder, I think they cost 8 quid each.

Thanks for the responses. Chaps - it's the back one that fell off.
Ok, I'm convinced. I'll find out from the garage exactly what's rusted away and try and source the part myself. It's the tight cornering (relatively speaking) that makes driving the car so much fun, I'd hate to bugger up it's handling.
I love the fantastic use of icons!
