2 days to get it firing! HELP!!

Well, my project GTII has been started regularly since I got it a few months back - probably once a fortnight. I keep it on an Optimate battery maintainer, so I know that the battery is in tip top form.
The car goes to the body shop soon to get the crash damage sorted out - so yesterday I thought I'd do some more sprucing up. I used a few caps of Gunk to de-grease the dirty engine bay and rinsed it off with a hose. I took care to keep alternator etc dry. At this point its worth saying that theres a MOSS MS715 alarm/immobiliser on the car - the type that uses a fob to deactivate it in the dash.
So... after the rinse.. I held up the fob to the sensor in the dash - ignition on (no immobiliser light to say that its still immobilised) and turn the key.. NOTHING. Absolutely nothing. No solenoid click, no dimming of lights, nothing.
This is the immobiliser at fault here isn't it? I've had a look at the control module in the wiper area of the engine bay - and all 3 main fuses on the immobiliser seem to be intact.
Any ideas?
