Removing oily / dirty fingerprints from matt paint

Bit stuck on what to try next here. I recently fitted a replacement bonnet with rather flat paint, and unfortunately had rather grubby fingers whilst doing so. This has resulted in oily / dirty fingerprints all round the edges of the bonnet.

I've tried a few things to get them off - neat car shampoo, fairy liquid, wd40 (recommended by a rather stupid friend - don't ask). Nothing seems to help.

Next thing to try would be T Cut I'd guess, but I'm not too confident it'll help. Would a good claybar and polish get rid of them? I'll be doing this to the car in the coming weeks anyway, so if that'll help it'd probably be easiest!

Cheers :)

You tried panel wipe?

Not sure how it'd mix with flat paint though, but it's designed to lift grease and general dust / muck off paint work.

Definitely worth a try - need some anyway since I'll be removing the side strips soon. Thanks for the suggestion :)

Sounds like damage to the paint to me, rather than a stain. Prob the only option would be to get an aggressive polish on the go matey.

Give the clay bar a go first tho, always interesting what they can achieve!

Don't know if it's too late; have you tried Tar Remover?

Not too late yet! I'm going to try tar remover first - need some anyway because I'm removing the side strips - and then claybar. Wish me luck!
