Squeak

I had this a while back, but it then decided to stop. Now it is back again and is frustrating me!

When I touch the accelerator (whilst in gear) and at any rpm or speed, there is a sqeak from the engine bay somewhere right at the moment you put any pressure on. Its only a momentary thing, when pushing the pedal further there is no other sqeak.

I was thinking it might be the engine mounts that are going?

Has anyone had this before?

Cheers!

Sometimes you can get a squeak from the exhaust downpipe where it meets the manifold, its down to VW's fantastic idea( :dunno: ) of fixing the two together with two metal spring clips allowing the two to move under acceleration. It could be worth checking the condition of the engine mounts just to be sure theres no excessive engine movement.
Hope this helps.

I get this all the bloody time... Always wondered what it was too. Even happens when decelerating down a hill with the clutch up, and it's really irritating. Any way to fix it? New spring clips?

Check your engine mountings first off, in particularly the rear gearbox mount as they are more prone to failure than the other mounts.

Also check that the first exhaust mounting rubber back from the downpipe (by the bottom of the gearstick) hasnt broken off. :good:

I've just got huge squeaks and rattles everywhere- that's what they do.
 :diablo:
My wife loves it -" well it wouldn't be a 'Rocco' without that " she said.
