Problem with the race car gears

I have no gears..

Tried gears in the car tonight to see if we could have some movementfrom its power and got some lovely scrapping when the clutch was pressed. It looks as though there is a 1mm or so difference in the clutch to the input shaft

I have taken the 4+e gearbox out and found the input shaft is smaller than the diameter of the clutch pack...

The flywheel and clutch pack are 16v mk2 gof, the gearbox is a 4+e 1.6 original from my scirocco

Where have I gone wrong??

I also eyed up a 2y gearbox from a mk2 16v golf I have but the drive shaft outputs are 100mm and a set of mk1 driveshafts in that size are not cheap.

Any options or thoughts appreciated..

Cheers. BTW I am supposed to be at my first event Easter bank holiday so he sooner the better lol

I have been advised I will need the 8v friction plate/pressure plate, is that correct?

The pressure plates on the 8v and 16v engines are the same, as is the fly wheel!

You wil need to match the friction plate to your gearbox so the splines/diammeter etc are the same
