I have to do that very job soon, and aren't really sure what road to go down.

I did that exact job (ish) "I'll change the brakes" ended up changing every bush on the front end, tie rods, brakes, brake lines, painting and sprucing (cos it was rusty, lol) and replacing the shocks.

yeah, Its suprising how easy it is to get carried away with new shiny (well, not rusty at least) parts eh? lol
I did the shocks and top mounts a few months back, now doing a new radiator, sunroof seal and various window seals, 4 branch maniold etc etc. Its fun, but taking bloody ages! Why do we get so carried away I wonder...

Andy, cheers :) I'll see to getting a post up. I've gone down the route of keeping the original brakes and just trying to make them work, so may be of interest to you?

yes! me too ! i started to put lowered shocks and springs on mine. and so far it's new vented discs and pads,2 new front wheel bearings,braided steel brake lines,painted calipers, cleaned and painted wishbones and 2 new balljoints ,2 new shock top mounts,2 new track rod ends,then i discovered that the passenger side track rod is non adjustable so i had to buy a new inner track rod for that side.incidentally does anyone know what size spanner i need to take off the inner track rod off the steering rack? and i haven't gone near the rear wheels yet!

I need to change all my track rods/ends. Mine are totally rusted beyond unscrewing so there's no adjustment. What do I need to buy from GSF? Is it one track rod and 2 track rod ends? What's a tie rod?

tie rod ,track rod same thing. tie rod is what the americano's call it.the rest of the english speaking world call it a track rod.

So what do I buy? 2 ends and a rod? Or does one side have a rod and end and the other side has something else?

seems to be quite common. i'm changing this bit, so i'll do everything else within arm's reach while i'm in there. worry when changing your pads make you chuck a new and improved engine in at the same time

as far as i know rhd versions have adjustable track rod end on drivers side. passenger side is non adjustable.so yes you need 1track rod end for dvrs side and a complete track rod and track rod end for the passenger side.its the opposite if the car is lhd .i'd love to know what gimp designed that!
