Ok,

My sidelights don't come on when the ignition is turned off. Caused mois to fail the MOT.

The bulbs are ok, the lights operate fine on sidelights, normals and main beam when the ignition is turned on, so pretty sure it's not a bulb.

Pretty sure it's not a fuse either as the rear sidelights operate fine wether the ignition is on or off.

The associated relay clicks and seems to operate fine due to the above mentioned on and offs.

I've checked the wiring as far as I can and I can't see any breaks..But if there where surely that would affect the sidelights when the ignition is turned on..? The plugs and pins all appear to be clean and largely corrosion free.

Ideas?

I did suspect the switch but in my mind, if it was the switch none of it should work at all..

have you physically checked the bulbs? thinking about it, the rocco *should* have dim dip, so the "sidelights" it has when the engine is running could well be the main headlights on dimly. worth checking first as it will be the cheapest fix. assuming they are good, make sure the connection to them is good and not gone green and furry or rusted

In the back of the headlight, is the sidelight part of the main bit, the 3 pin plug bit, or is it the little bulb and plug lower down?

I've swapped both bulbs over from a spare set of lights I have and nothing changed..

it's the little bulb on it's own lower down. should look like this

if both bulbs are ok, check the condition of the holder. make sure the contacts are clean and the cables are secure. trace the cable back to the next connector in the loom and check that is ok.

i would offer to come have a look, but with the cost of fuel it'd be cheaper to just get an autospark to fix it

Somebody give this man a medal! The next set of connectors along where all green and nasty, cleaned um up and POW illuminations! They where hidden down under the front beam though which is why I missed them first time around!

when you've got them really nice and clean, stuff some vaseline into them to keep the wet out and stop it happening again
