one of the 4 bolts that hold the axle to the chassis has snapped clean off, what options do i have of replacing it? Can i get in to it from above to take the weld off whats left of the old bolt and weld a new one in, or will i have to cut a hole in the side of the box section to get in to it?

I managed to carefully weld on a stud to the base of the old one, clean it up and run a die over the thread. There's not much strain on that fixing and seems to be holding ok on my racer.

isnt there some sort of inspection panel in the interior floor that allows access to these from above?

On the Mk1 there is a slot with tape over it. I haven't checked whether the Mk 2 is the same, but I imagine that it is.

could you not drill the stud out, re-tap and place in a new one with locktight?

...note, I've not operated under there yet and so don't know whats there, on the polo its a bolt that goes up in to a taped hole.

Jay.

Pretty sure it isn't a tapped hole on this one, it's welded from inside the box section...

this is different mate, it's a threaded bolt that comes through a hole in the chassis and (i guess?) is welded in place at the top.
