how to change windows explained on side rear window

Post by sander hoogendijk »

In this topic I will post a story describing how best to replace a rear side window.

The best you can do this with 2 people, but one person can do this to.

First point trying to avoid pin-pressure on the window, so the best is if you remove the rings from your hand or avoid any contact with your ring and the window . otherwise there is a possibility that the window will crack.

as before, the old window should be removed.
This is done by pushing the window in the top corner of your B-pillar (see picture), and it is possible that the window yet not want to go out, then help them through the rubber on the inside to fold.

when the window comes loose, it is useful if the window is gently pulled out by person 2 while person1 pushes the window further.

as the window over the full length at the top is loose, you can lift the window like this. and prepare the new window to mount.

if you go the new window you must first install a cord/wire to the effort, (I use myself an flexible electronic wire) note! If you just use a rope, then always use gloves
I start / finish is always the top bend to right angle from the window sealant ... (top right on the first picture)

then go around your with your wire. After you have tightened the wire around you grease the sealant with Vaseline on the inside or something similar.

When loading the window you make the sharpest corner (c-pillar) has become fully pushed in, see picture.

put the excess wire inside the car, and person1 gets in, while the other leans against the window.
don’t lean to hard otherwise it won’t work.

Then go to the wire inside and pull it to one side while the person outside is following the wire and pushes it gently. so the sealant will fit nice and smooth.

to get to the corners that are tricky ...
at the corners to give a rotary motion to the wire ... if you want to continue rolling over the sealant. you just do this with your whole hand on the photo below would have done clockwise while your hand moves to the left ...

if there are pieces of sealant all over there are not sitting well, that you will pick it over.
and then when the window is in... push the window in several places till it gets in place.
and this is your result:

use this freely andadjust if my language isn't right.
