There might be, i think the 16v box is higher so will put the metering head close to the bonnet. You can always cut away some of the lower air box to allow it to sit on he chassis leg properly - this is what i had to do before i got a pipercross foam filter

That was my next question :D
Is there anything imporatnt on the bottom part of the box ?
Was thinking i could prob custom make someting out of alloy,or butcher the box from my current intake system.

You can cut the lower box away with no problems, its the upper half and air filter that does the work!

Making your own lower box may be the best idea, would be alot easier to fix into place properly!

This one is how mine looked http://www.pipercross.net/fastroad/prod ... 62&app=471

I cut the ally brackets on the filter to the height i needed then fit then directly to the chassis leg

I have to sort this area of my 16v conversion this week... possibly tonight.

Currently I have a K&N panel with the standard upper, and the lower having been cut right back to just the upper 1-1.5 inch thick 'rim' where the spring clips are held.

My plan is to make some alloy L-shaped brackets and mount this lower rim rigidly to the chassis leg (in a similar manner to Birdy's), then the upper will be held to this by the std spring clips.

MrD - perhaps a standard 8v lower airbox could be trimmed in a similar way to provide just the rim?

If I go down to the unit tonight I will try to remember to take some piccies.

Yes have just spopken to my mate who will be doing the conversion, and he said don`t bother with the pipercross item, normal box can be adapted to fit ,and look tidy too, which was also a concern,in a ssimilar way to which you just mentioned

I got around this problem in true ghetto style, big zipties around the air filter! Don't even use the lower box.
