Hi all, just looking into getting some discs and the ones they guy is offering are for a Golf Mk1 GTi 1.6 8v. They are still 239mm like mine, but when I asked him if they'd fit he questioned whether they were vented or solid? I'm not quite sure what he means, can anyone guide me? Does anyone know if these disc will fit a Mk2 GT2 'Rocco??
Cheers

solid are just that - a solid disc of metal:

Vented discs are like two discs joined together by a number of vanes, usually in a spiral pattern, like this:

They're designed to let air flow through the disc, cooling it down and therefore preventing fade and increasing braking performance.
Hope that helps.

I assume GT2's came with vented as standard? (same as 239mm Golf GTi)
Even if it came with solid, the vented are direct replacement so long as you fit vented/GTi pads at the same time (the pads are thinner to allow for the 8mm thicker vented disc)

Ah! Yeah, I have vented discs in that case. 239mm diameter and just shy of 20mm wide. So they'll be the same as Golf GTi disc and pads. Happy with that
