I just finished a single headlamp grille conversion on my rocco, but is there anyway of getting the full beam to work in the other lights? Any info or pics would be great.

You should have full-beam on the outer lamps already.

As Ed says dude, the H4 bulbs are duel-fillament (sp?) and light up extra bright when you hit the full beam :good:

Yes, they provide extra illumination (spot-lights). But you still get full-beam on the outer lamps.

Otherwise VW wouldn't have been able to make cars without them, like this:

that's got to just be a coincidence. the only electrical connection to the inner lamps should be a 2 wires directly connected to the main beam in the main light. they have nothing to do with the fog lights at all.

my full beam is spots only, but i think that's since i upgraded the headlight loom as i had to disconnect one of the wires to the main headlights for it to work properly (following the fitting instructions) although it didn't mention losing the full beam, only losing the dim-dip where they get dimmer in sidelight mode in addition to the sidelight bulbs being on. Now i have sidelight bulbs only in sidelight mode. Not that sidelight mode ever has an appropriate time to be in legal use, so it's all moot anyway. Whew! That was boring!

really ought to add a feed to get the main beam in the outers working. it should be a test fail as the spots produce the wrong pattern to be the only main beam.

Really? I'm gonna double check mine now. My MOT's due in the next couple of months.

the pattern on the outer lights is designed to give either main or dip, but not both together. the inner lights are designed as supplementary lights only ("spot" lights - the clue is in the name!)

the inner lights will give a small spot of light where you would be looking most of the time at night (assuming they are aimed correctly, which they rarely are)

if the outer lights switch off altogether (ignoring the sidelight) i would expect an mot test fail. if they stay on as dip and the spot come on too, i would expect it to be noted on an advisory sheet. it really does depend how clued up or not your tester is though.
