Scirocco Register

My reversing lights don't seem to be working, so I had a poke around the gearbox and spotted this:


I assume this should have a connector on it which then operates the rear lights when the car is in reverse? Has anyone got a photo of the cable that should attach to this so I can try and find it please?

Also found this little chap:


It's on the coolant tank side of the engine. Any ideas?

It'll be 2 spades that fit on that rather than a connector block.

Ben you can have a nose round my engine on the weekend bud, when you pop over. The red connector is unplugged in my engine bay too, god knows what it does!

as brunty say two spade connecters one of the wires im pretty sure is brown/black

mine had a plug on it, not loose spades. check the plug with a volt meter. see if you've got +12v switched with ignition live on one of them. if you have, connect the 2 wires together via a 5amp fuse and see if the reverse lights come on.

Haha, almost certainly. Everything else on the car seems to be at the minute, so it wouldn't surprise me.
When I phoned up to get an insurance quote last they kept asking if it was an automatic, I've got a sneaky suspicion someone may have done a manual conversion on this in the past. I guess the auto would have the reverse switch on the gear selector rather than on the gearbox? Anyone with an auto confirm or deny?

Don't know about the auto switch, but I do know that DVLA has had several sciroccos listed as autos when they weren't.
