Been told by my ins i need to upgrade my brakes, due to my planned engine upgrade.
Have been looking at the corrado / golf 280mm setup on tut bay,but they go for a decent whack .for 2nd hand stuff.
Also checked out A.V.S who i have used in the past for parts, and rate highly, looking at buying new, calipers, carriers, disks and pads, then the brackets from caddy forum.looking at around £250 to £300.
What sort of money are we talking for Wilwood or Brembo brakes, did a googley but couldn`t find owt ,anyone know a supplier any feedback etc on what they are like etc,and if it`s worth it,as an upgrade over new corrado / golf stuff ? Ta

i went with the 280mm option.
calipers with carriers cost me £35ish BARGAIN EBAY!!! , gave them to VW and got recon ones for £110
spacer kit to push caliper out £50
discs and pads
Going to be around the £250 mark depending on what discs/pad option you have.

Not cheap but definately well worth it. Nice big four pots and the kit comes with pretty much everything including calipers, carriers, discs, pads etc. Very very responsive but could probobaly benefit from the uprated master cylinder that's still sitting in my garage. There's probobaly easier ways of sourcing the parts but I'm dead happy. Depending on distance/time you're more than welcome to give it a try. If you want costs drop me a pm.

I did find some Brembo jobbies, but looking at around £1200,which i personally think is a bit out of my price range,as the car is a toy,and will be a trackday toy eventually !
Will pm you and ask Wilwood prices,Mr Funk,if they are reasonable i will stop trawling e bay.as don`t mind paying a few hundred quid over standard, also want to up the m,c and servo, new m,c only £40 odd.
Did find some audi s2 calipers ,but it says they are for 276mm disks,so assume the 280 corrado disks won`t be any use ?

Not too expensive really, was expecting to pay around £300 for new oe quality stuff,so for and extra couple of hundred it`s not too bad, they also have dust seals fitted now.Decisions decisions

That's the kit I got and to be honest I'm incredibly impressed. Very responsive once they're set up and the guys at Rally Design are very friendly (they're just down the road) and knowledgable.
Can't remember which pads which pads I got though, was advised to get one rather than the other as I don't use it for track

I've got a Wilwood 280mm Dynalite set up and think that they've got slightly more feel than my 305mm Brembo set up. They are much cheaper too. With race pads they squeal like a stuck pig when braking gently.
I hadn't seen the kits that Rally Design are doing, well worth going that route as you don't have to worry about the mounting brakets. Not heard anything about the Midilite before though and it doesn't seem to appear on the Wilwood website.

Wicked,so i won`t need to spend the other £45 on the brackets then ! Think i have made up my mind, think i might announce to all my friends, that they can all put some money in the pot,and treat them as a 40th b day present

It'll depend on the offset of the wheel and the space behind the spokes. My 280s didn't fit behind TSW Hocks for instance.
