Clutch cable modification

Just a quick one... I'm replacing my clutch cable tomorrow, and I'd like to see if I can simultaneously lighten the clutch.
I vaguely remember that someone on here straightened out that pointless kink in the cable outer - the metal bend that comes out of the bulkhead.
I was thinking about doing this myself, because my cables always fail at that point due to wearing through the inner sheath.
Anyone had any luck doing this? What did you use to do it?

What bend that comes out of the bulkhead? Is yours injection or carb? Either way, I think the cable should come out straight, then curve around the front of the inlet manifold, is it possible that the cable on yours was mis-routed at some point in the past and has stayed that way?

Have you got a mk2 goof clutch cable? ...has it got auto adjustment or manual...roccos are manual as far a I know, and the other for goofs, having owned a carb and inj rocc and an inj goof.
Jay.

Sorry for being a bit vague! I'm definitely using a Rocco cable, because I've changed it myself before now. The metal bend is the bit of the outer that protrudes from the rubber grommet that sits in the bulkhead. My guess is that it's designed to route the cable around the rocker cover - towards the offside of the engine bay. It's only about three inches long.
The car is injection, by the way - and the cable is manual adjustment, the standard GEMO one from GSF.

Lube the cable with some spray grease. Your clutch should get a lot lighter with a new cable anyway.

Thanks Mike - I fitted the cable on Saturday and all is good, but the clutch is still heavy as hell. I just need a new clutch really!
