Spring rates in lb for Sciroccos

Post by Boumsong »

Ok, try as I may I can't find details on the springs rates/weights of Scirocco springs anywhere.

Just got my coilovers and I'd to compare the lb weights between standard spring rates and coilover springs rates before I spend another few £££ on some higher rated springs.

Any body know?

MIGHT be worth checking Club GTI forum, they have a lot of motorsport themed cars/folk over there who would have had need for this info previously.

OR one of the tuners who also sell kits eg awsome/tuningwerkes/g werkes/venom?

As far as I can gather (so far)..200lb on the front and 170lb on the rear is about right.

The coilovers I think are 250lb fr and 200lb rear..So I'll be using 375lb on the front and 250lb on the rear, should be good! :P :diablo:

As GTXTRA says or you will need to ask your dealer to ask VW's technical department as the workshop manual doesn't give spring rates.

I think I read somewhere that Ian Carvell used something like 300 on the front and 250 on the rear of his racing scirocco before he sold it. Maybe PM Brunty to see what he uses on his track cars.

That sort of split is what I've been told a lot of track and amatuer racers use, it's sort of..Hard enough to handle well without being an insane handful.
