Gear linkage bushes

Post by wasted »

The larger 'top-hat' shaped sleeve that goes over the top end of a vertical bar on my gear linkage has worn through and snapped again for the second time in a year. Easy job to fix, but irritating it's not lasted longer than this.

Last time around, I got some replacement bushes etc from GSF - it seems they're not much cop though. Does anyone know if there's an equivalent VW part number that I can order from the stealer?

I've just bought one of the GSF kits, tried to fit it yesterday and one of the plastic sockets ends snapped off the longer of the rods and then the securing clip snapped off the other end, RUBBISH!! Stopped buying parts from Euro cos i was sick of them breaking, seems GSF is just as bad!

Yeah, the GSF ones seem to be poor quality plastic.
I think I'm going to go for the simple kit off crazyquiff - if that proves to be much the same I might go for the 4crawler option above. I'll let you know how I get on.

I have their complete kit on my Mk1, it's pretty good. Short action + weighted rod with ball jointed ends, my gear shift now requires only a light flick of the lever, very satisfying
