i have a 91 plate gt2 1.8 8v with a 2e2 carb. its been sat for two years and i got it running today. it was idling fine but when you turn the electrics on it starts to hunt wildly from 1000-2000 rpm. a loud click can be heard from around the carb when this happens. i can't see any sparks in the bay suggesting a short. i think it could be the solenoid in the carb for the auto choke would that makes sense? would a good helping of carb cleaner and a blast out help it?

I currently have this problem. Does anyone know the cause of widlely hunting idel (1000-2000rpm) on a 2e2 carb?

if its been sat for 2 years the first thing i would be doing is checking vaccums for cracks or leaks, also check the carbs rubber mount for cracks or splits, maybe worth checking all your earths to make sure they have a good clean connection
