hi folks
ever since i got my brake pads and shoes renewed the braking is uneven the nose goes down and then it rocks back when you come to a halt?
it does this no matter how slow you're going or how gently you brake?
any ideas?

does it pull either to the left or the right under braking? if not, i suspect this is a suspension thing. it is normal for the front of the car to be pushed down under braking as the weight of the car is thrown forwards. it will then obviously come back to it's normal level when you stop. how violently it does this depends on your driving style - relaxing the brake pedal ever so slightly just as you stop will lessen the effect.
what suspension is on it and is it in good health? is the ride bouncy?

ta for that Nate
suspension standard with newish shocks, no pulling etc.
it only started happening after they did the brakes which is why i think it's a braking problem?
could it be that the back brakes are not coming on enough which is pitching it more forward?
the handbrake has been a bit soft since as well.

Sounds to me like they're just working quite well. Maybe put a few turns on the handbrake cable to even it up a bit more. If it's really an issue stronger front springs would stop is sagging as much.

back brakes do near enough bugger on the footbrake anyways. iirc it's less than 3/4 of the brake effort on the rear and the rest on the front.

you may find that the rear brakes are out of adjustment. adjust them properly (or get someone to do it for you) don't just tighten up the handbrake cable.
are you in preston up north or preston near cirencester?
