Hey, Im a newbie to the Scirocco.... recently moved over from a MK2 Golf

Was wondering what is the biggest wheels (width and diameter) I can get in without any jigging about or wheel rubbings anywhere on stock suspension?

Its on 175/70/R13 at the moment and I was thinking of going 195/50/R15 (6J) ??

What's everyone else running?? Any problems to look for hints and tips??

My ultimate dream would be to have some huge width wheels, like old skool ford capri used to have with the lovely white writing on them but I would settle for a sensible option for no hassle lol

6 x 15 rims with a 195/50 - 15 tyre on stock suspension will be fine.

any wider, 7 x15 eg, or lower will require a 45 series tyre and/or arch work depending on wheel chosen off-set wise.

Must admit it feels alot nicer to drive than my golf did but the wheels its on at the moment are a little worrying in the wet

Hardly stock but I'm running 9.5 on the rear and 7 on the front. Rolled the arches on the rear and removed the front poo shields but I can't see why you couldn't run them on stock.

My old red one was on 7x15 with 50 profile tyres, lowered 50mm. No problem

Mine sat on 16 x 7 whan i first got it,

front did rub a little on full lock though, can't remeber offset, but a 5 mm spacer would have put it bob on.

Nice My old golf was Tornado Red! - only the best.

So I could get in 7x15" no problem then by the seems of it.

I was doing alot of looking around last night and fell in love with some american alloys by a company called Cragar.

They are "Cragar 320" - do a google image search!!

But sadly the company I found that imports them said that they cannot get them drilled to the right PCD and the offset is negative

Oh well back to the drawing board..... I just fancy something a little different rather than standard off the shelf stuff available all over the market.

I know they meant for classic american muscle or jeeps but there just something about the style of them, I think they would look good??

Mine is the helios blue scala so think something like that would set it off nicely.

My wheels are 16x7.5J and I have narrower tyres on them - 195s - which are two sizes down, ie for 6.5Js. The angled tyre walls eliminate the need for arch rolling and the wheels acquire an unusual appearance I really like. The only mod I did was spacers at the back - 5mm I think. I was ripped off to the tune of £8 from Halfrauds but I couldn't be bothered searching just to save a fiver. Without the spacers, the rears rubbed on the springs. Now there's no rubbing at all anywhere even on full lock. I reckon I've pushed it to the limit with these but my suspension is stock. You could always go with mega low profile tyres though of course, if you wanted to go bigger still. Hope that helps.

So the 15x8 compomotive th's im picking up this weekend may give me a headache at the front??!!

I reckon you'd be rubbing at the back either on the springs or the wheel arches depending on the offset. You might rub on full lock at the front too. That's an educated guess though, i could be wrong. You're only half an inch wider than mine so you might still squeeze in, especially if you get 195 width tyres stretched onto them, or you may get away with 205s. Depends on the profile i guess. Mine are 45 profile on 16s and give a neat angle of about 45 degrees on the tyre wall. They're 195 width. Maybe try 195/50/15 on yours. Shouldn't be too expensive. You might need to invest in some spacers.

Just remembered, Dylan, "Slumdogscala" has Compomotive TH on his. Not sure what width but i've got a feeling they're 15x8 so maybe you'll be fine putting yours straight on with the normal tyres. I'm sure his are normal tyres but you'd have to ask him.

Im running 9.5's at the back with no arch modifications and 8J on the front, have removed the mud shields tho'.

Pfftt!!

It's all about 13"X8.5's".
