Kick in the back

My Kjet Scala has a very uncomfortable new vice as of yesterday. When changing up and then applying throttle the engine cuts out for a moment - maybe one second - and the jolts back to life with the obvious kick in the back. I can't see anything loose or disconnected under the bonnet. The idle has dropped 200 and power is down but not by much. New tank and filler neck fitted recently so I'm fairy sure its not dirty fuel. Any ideas?

what are your ignition components like? vws can be quite hard on them. i still carry a dizzy cap and arm on my truck as they seem to fail quite regularly

Found the fault when my son, Brunty came to visit. Bit embarrassing really.

The dizzy was loose and turning as the engine revved. Tightened it up, reset timing and replaced dizzy cap, rotor and plugs for good measure. Job done :)

I Had a problem like this with my scala...
It was the in tank fuel pump. The main pump was struggling to pull the petrol it needed through. I replaced both internal and external pumps and it then ran perfect again.
