Fitting ye olde stereo

Post by goaferboy »

Right I have this stereo:

It's a Blaupunkt Paris R25. I currently have a Panasonic D50e. This is a picture of the back of the current Panasonic:

And this is a picture of the back of the Blaupunkt that I want to put in:

So how on gods green earth do I do it? Adapter? Or am I going to have to get the relevant plugs and cut/solder the wires to attach the new plug?

Or should I just get someone else to do it?

WTF that is old school! I'd guess the four pairs of connectors along the top are for the speakers and the three pins at the bottom are for power...And the bottom left connector will be for the aerial. I don't suppose you have the original manual for it.....?

Nope. The boss at work gave it to me with nothing other than the unit and a bracket thing. It was free though!

The aerial fits directly into the back, I just need to find a way to attach the rest!

well you've got spades for power and then you need some din speaker plugs like these

may be a bit of trial and error working out which speaker is which

the bolt in the middle needs to be earthed, make sure you connect an inline fuse to the power connection

I’m currently bidding on one of these on eBay for the GTI. Reckon it’s about the right vintage and manufacturer – although back then Sciroccos didn’t come with a stereo as standard (bloody tight VW!). I am thinking, if I win it, of attempting to splice in an auxiliary lead for the old iPod – for an OEM look but modern capability

Rick, I have the correct leads for the Blaupunkt, including the speaker plugs.
