Engine Paint - Spray or brush?

Whats best for painting an engine and its ancillaries? It'll have to be High Temp stuff either way.

I've used VHT spray before and think its pants, it never really seems to stick and is always chalky. But saying that I'm worried about the finish the brush will make.

Any pointer or advice?

Thanks.

Rich.

I've been using the brush on stuff (can't remember the name, but it was probably from Halfords) for a few years now, it's quite thick so while it dies it smooths itself out.

How long does it last? Also, being think whats it look like finish wise? I don't want an engine that looks like its been glooped on by a 5 year old.. I'd like it as thin as possible!!

There's a pic in my build thread here

TBH I haven't tried cleaning it since fitting but assume it's fine. It's not really that visible once the engine's fitted anyway.
