yep just checked that like... dont really want to have to start cutting bits about with the TDi lump so may cheat and go 1.6GTD instead as they are ten a penny here.. (actually find them very very easy unlike a normal 1.6 petrol which all seem to be knackered..

Ive just put a Mk2 golf GTD engine in my Mk1 caddy... so not to different from a Mk2 rocco... There is a 1.9 TD lump called the AAZ and fits just the same as the GTD
The main ball ache is the down pipe and it has to big if you plan to tune the engine
heres a TD guide from the caddy forum
http://www.vwcaddy.com/showthread.php?t ... hlight=GTD
And this place rocks for tuning info.... (most of it goes way over my head lol)

My mate Danny recently did one in a Mk2- using an AAZ engine. It's still a fairly standard engine, so it's not super rapid, but it is very economical and reliable.
Using a non TDI engine with no ECU makes the wiring side a lot easier.
EDIT - there's a guy on club GTI called Crispy8v who's got a 150bhp(?) TDI in a Mk1 golf too. Pick his brains for more info on it.
