i know this has been asked before but the only info i can find out about it on here is some one saying there are different ways of doing it... which doesn't help me much lol
i don't need to know about any of the wiring or fueling or any thing like this, just the mounting of the engine and box and any information about the gear linkage and drive shafts and that's pretty much it.
in the other thread there was a mention of some one doing it into a mk1 rocco, i think his name was mark but only a first name was used no forum name ect, can any one expand on this?
thanks for any help

yup me..

mine mounts onto all the existing engine mounts on the chassis, the mounts on the engine having been fabricated to fit these. I gotta be honest and say I didnt do these. I came across the car in a garage with this already having been somewhat done. But Having had the car for a few years now I can probably answer most questions. The engine was basically offered up, bricked / wedged in place and measurements made and mounts made to suit. You are welcome to look at mine anytime.
All the running gear etc came from a vento 2.9 vr6. so you got all the running gear / wiring loom / dash etc etc from this. The nearside driveshaft is considerably shortened proffesionally by an engineers. The gear linkage is all the stuff from the vento. when i got it it was bolted to the outside of the car and the lever sat in the ususal position -but the driving position was pants. I rebolted the gear lever box inside the car and ran the wires thru holes I drilled in the bulkhead. could do with tidying but I never got round to it.. LOL - to busy scaring myself driving the fooker.

so mainly the runnig gear is pretty much a standard bolt together fit.
simples.
little fiddly bits of plumbing for the cooling to do, ( i kid you not the only rad that fitted in the gap is from a Metro!) but it works fine. And the exhaust is a few standarb bits of kit welded to gether and then run onto a big bore Mk1 scirocco off the shelf exhaust. It works fine and sounds imense! The idea was to use as many standard off the shelf parts as possible for future maintenance. the only real fabrication being the exhaust ( but as already mentioned used standard bits) the cooling system ( ditto)- the only ' one off' bit being the driveshaft. and the bodykit. But thats choice..

Although I love it too bits, it is heavy. If I were to do one I would look at a VT or G60 mesen.
Although you dont quite get the VR6 roar from those...

alreet?

for a daft engine conversion, more than 4 cylinders wins every time. surely it's about time someone dropped an audi V8 into a rocco?
incidentally, i've got front and rear grp bumpers similar to the one on the front of mike's mk1. needs a bit of love, but basically good.
