Hi, i have just bought myself a lovely scirocco, after giving her a service (inc, oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, not dizzy cap or rotor arm) this morning she is over running alot! im not sure if this has something to do with the timeing, but this hasnt been touched!
Any idears would be very greatful, even timeing positions would be great, thanks alot, stephen.
Also were is a good place to get:
-Dizzy cap
-Rotor arm
-Break pads
-front wheel bearings
Thanks again
Stephen

what fuel are you running? When I got my roc I was running bog 95ron and was getting pinking and over running. I now use tesco 99ron as the rocs are recommended to run on 98 or above. Not had any problems in ages, car runs smoother and gets better milage. I know you can play with the timing to get it to run of naff fuel but i prefer to use the 99ron better quality fuel. Hope this helps.

Normal unleaded is usually 95 ron, Shell V Power is 99 ron.
As Andy said, they run much better on the higher octane.
What sort of Scirocco did you buy?
GSF are good and so are Euro Car Parts, and of course the dealers if you can fine one with a decent and keen parts department.
Where you based?

Just to back up what Ian said, normal unleaded is usually 95ron. Various forecourts have super unleaded which can range from 97ron up to 102ron. The RON bit just stands for 'Research Octane Number' (quality and ignition properties of fuel). I know Tescos super unleaded is 99ron which in my opinion is by far the best option, performance, mpg and price wise. I know BP's ultimate 102 fuel has a 102ron rating but is quite expensive. On quite a few rocs there is a sticker on the filler cap saying 'run on 98 or above'. I ran mine on 97 for a bit as I lived closer to a station supplying it (it still over ran and pinked), but I now make the extra effort to get Tescos 99ron. My car enjoys drinking it more!
This might help clear anything up I've just made more complicated...

Is there a chance a previous owner turned up tick over speed or advanced timing and this only became apparant when you serviced it?
I remember a good few years ago a garage was meant to have serviced my ma's car, didn't bother replacing airfilter 9not sure about plugs) and turned tick over up to make it seem like it runing better!!!
