Went to pick up my new seats today was coming back on the M6 changed into 5th gear and the clutch cable snapped, managed to force it in 5th and get another 100 miles toward home, pulled into a layby around 8 miles from my house to wait for my dad to arrive with my spare clutch cable, however it seems to be too short. Have jacked the clutch lever up to allow me to get the cable on to the pedal, however there is now no free play. Checking the two cables together showed they have different part numbers! So, checked GSF and there are two f.inj options. Can anyone point me toward the correct part? i have a 1.8i 8v scala 1991 plate

Thanks in advance!

I recently replaced my clutch cable and it was about 6-7 inches shorter. I had to route it different, instead of going round the left hand side of the engine near the pulley it now goes straight over my strut brace and down to the clutch. The cable should stretch off after a bit of use, you might get some adjustment on it then.

The clutch cable you need is 1490mm long. I have changed 2 in the last 6 months (on 2 cars!).
You can't get them from the dealers, I got mine from ECP, don't let them tell you they don't do, I was told this by one employee, then I rang back and another employee ordered me one.

This happened to me a couple of days ago. I think GSF do a post and pre 1986 1.8i clutch cable so I would guess you need the later one - fitted fine on my '87 GTX.
