Scirocco Register

Hey guys,

so got the Scirocco the other day, beautiful machine, rides like a tank, i love it, just got a few things i need to do to get it through its net MOT, wondering if any one can help out with spare parts, willing to buy if you got anything in the garage, boot, under the kitchen sink please let me know

ok, so things im on the hunt for

1, Front and rear indicator lenses
2, Horn

im also havinga few problems with the cluth, gear box and hazard lights, anyone got ideas or anything

your help would be much appreciated

could do with a bit more info. what problems are you having?

well as far as i can tell i need a new clutch and then depending on that a new gear box too, wouldn't go into Third or Reverse, possibly the reason why the clutch went, im assuming its an electrical problem with the horn and hazards, but im not that mechanically minded, just don't want to get robbed by some mechanic you know. car was cheap, but dont want to be spending £k on it.

as for the indicator lenses, they are cracked and missing bits so need some new ones, found some online, but not sure if they will be the right ones as it aint got model numbers or dates, so could be or new scirocco

Also part number 56 on the drawing can cause the same problem.

yeah the AA guy took the "gear linkage ball knuckle thingy" out and it was wrecked, tried to fix it on the road side, but failed, so maybe it could just be this not the clutch and gear box fully gone?

stick a request for the front indicators up in the parts wanted section - loads about i expect. all mk2 sciroccos came with the same standard indicators during production run 1981-1992 so you should be ok.

thanks GTXTRA, much help....you know if the horn is easy to fit? the car has a non standard stearing wheel, could that have something to do with the horn not working??

check the wiring under the boss, they may be loose or cracked. depending on what wheel you have you should be able to prise the horn button off to check.
also check and clean up the 'contact' that moves to create the connection when you press the horn - you should be able to see this by looking from underneath the steering wheel into the gap between wheel and boss. fluff and general gunk can be enough to cause horn not to work.

horn units visible underneath battery attached to front lower panel and easy enough to replace if you are sure there are no other wiring/fuse issues. worth cleaning up both the horn units themselves and the connections.
