hmm, i have got the correct one on there then :( i must have spent an hour staring at it yesterday hoping it was a nasty aftermarket one.
anyone got any pictures of "improved" rear fogs? i suppose the way forward would be to sink them into the rear panel, but i haven't got the first idea how to go about it. i did like the reverse light idea, but i'd need to do both as only having 1 would piss me off and i need reverse lights living in the countryside!

Pete has solved this one.
He's got a twin filament bulb in the off side rear cluster.
He sent me some pics and a how-to type mail that I can fwd if you like?
Or you could do what I'm going to end up with - tint the reverse lenses, and stick a red LED in the off side for the fog and a high power white one in the near side. Or do that and don't tint them (as the red LED bulb is not coloured red unless lit).

Indeed, after he looked at my solution, since I had this problem more than 7 years ago, when I imported my Mk1 from Germany, where the German MOT does not stipulate the requirement for a rear fog light

So I had to become creative, as there was no way I was going to ruin the look of my rear Rieger bumper.
A PCI blanking slot plate, a hacksaw, a dual filament lightbulb and a bit of wiring (oh and some plastic washers and nuts) later, and I had integrated the fog light into the rear light cluster. Passed the first UK MOT straight away

you could always the mk1 fiesta rear fog lamp, as the rear valance has almost the same curve.
Thats what my storm had on it after the proper one corroded badly.

it's a '79, so i know strictly speaking they don't nee to be there, but seeing as the wiring is there and the switch is already in the dash...

you wouldn't happen to have a pic of that would you? i'm hoping to find something i can use that will look less "afterthought-ish"

I have had this argument on MOT of my VR6 a few times, as it is boderline on the dates. I dont have one. However with the way things have gone with MOT's now - when I do eventually get this car back on the road I anticipate a problem. I am sure many folk would apprciate a ' how to' article with piccys from someone who has done this, for publish here and maybe in SR?
I know I would...

i've either sussed out how to do it, or i'm about to bugger up a brand new rear panel

if it works, i'll do a how o
mie, you could just take the relevat page from the
tester's handbook with you and beat him round the head with it. i'd guess that most testers don't see cars this old very often, and so "autopilot" makes them fail it for the missing fog light, side repeaters, rear seatbelt etc
