Scirocco Register

(chassis numbers can anyone tell me) i was washing my car a few weeks ago and notisted that my car has two lots on the cross member but one off the chassis numbers has big x over it there is only one number diffrant i think the other chassis number is for a golf . my car is a mk2 sala can anybody tell my why this is thanks

are you on about the one on the vin plate, or the one stamped into the steel under the windscreen? if it's the one on the vin plate it's probably had a new (2nd hand) front end on it and they forgot to save the old vin plate from the damaged panel. only a guess though. any chance of a pic?
