In order for me to keep an eye on the oil pressure, I have purchased a nice and new gauge. I'm gonna mount this above the radio, in the normal place where they were mounted in the higher spec cars. Which of the two oil pressure locations should I mount the sender (the head or at the top of the oil filter)? And what sort of pressure should I expect to be getting (gauge is in bar)?

The head. Unless you have got a two pin pressure sender, you will lose the oil warning light on the dashboard.

Have you got a 5 or 10 bar gauge? Whichever you have, make sure you have the matching 5 or 10 bar sender.

Oil pressure is checked at 2000 rpm with the oil temperature at 80 degrees. It should not be less than 2 bar.

Gauge and sender came together so I'm hoping they match , and it's a 10 Bar gauge.

Has anyone tried one of these in order to keep the original light as well?

That is assuming that the thread is M10x1.

The thread is M10x1, so it should fit.

Have you got a link to the gauge & sender you bought ?

This is the gauge I bought. Thread was M10x1.5 though so I had to machine up an adaptor.

Seems to be okay, wanted a VDO but the prices were far too high and I wanted a gauge quick to give me an idea of a few things.

I am potentially about to buy an oil pressure and oil temperature gauge (with senders), and was wondering how difficult they are to fit. They are going into a GTX - looking at the posts above it appears that it is simply a case of plugging them into a hole. Is it really as simple as that?

You shouldn't need an oil temperature gauge if you have a GTX as this function is on the MFA.

Fitting an oil pressure gauge is easy - replace the original sender in the cylinder head (thread is M10 x 1) with the sender to match your gauge. Mount the gauge in the car and wire it up according to the wiring instructions that come with the gauge.

I know, but a nice analogue gauge looks better :)
