Scirocco Register

As most people know, they are pretty pricey and hard to find for the MK2 rocco.
I suppose it's been mentioned before, but has anyone ever tried some other cars indicators?

Saw an old MK3 fiesta, looked very similar but might be missing the point

They're similar, but not the same. Keep searching. The sweep on the back edge of those is too much..you'd end up with a gap between indicator and panel.

Im not sure if this is true but someone once mentioned the BMW 7 series (E32) cars could be used upside down on roccos?

Suppose the only way is a trip to the scrap yard and try some for size!
Or if anyone has some knackered old BMW ones to try.

I also found clear indicators too expensive so I made some.

I'm not saying mine are completely street legal though.

My camera is buggered and only takes clear pics sometimes, so I apoligize in advance

Remove orange plastic from standard lenses, I used a screwdriver, hacksaw blade and a soldering iron for this.


Cut a peice of perspex to fit inside the black plastic lip (Perspex is available from ebay, mine cost £2 including postage).


Using a blow torch heat up the perspex and bend into shape, I used a hard bit of plastic that had a matching curve as a guide.


Use a angle grinder (set to slow if possible) to gently trim the new lense to fit inside the indicator backing.


Trim the indicator backing with the angle grinder to remove any uneven surface, then sand, then wet and dry. Needless to say the longer you spend here the better the finish.


Prime...


Paint...


Before glueing the lense in use it as a template for the other side.



Glue the lense in.




I also painted the bulb holder silver as these are now visable.


Admire your work, and drink some beer :D

Just need some of those silver looking bulbs that flash orange... That will defo finish the look.

Question: How did you find bending the perspex. Was it quite easy, just worried about over heating it.

sorry to be bringing a thread like this back from the past, but without searching high and low...off the back of this,

has anyone on here considered taking the rocco indicator apart like above, then using say an E36 bmw clear indicator...prise the clear lense off, use heat and a dremmel to re-shape the lense and re-glue/araldite it to the rocco housing??

made it seem like its pretty easy to take the E36 indicator apart and they can be bought pretty cheap...come clear from factory on some of them, so not that rare i'm guessing.

i dont have an E36 handy to take measurements...but wondered if anyone of you are able to compare? if the bmw lense isn't right, how about say a t25?
