Scirocco Register

Hi,
My 89 Rocco Gt , doesn't want to go into 5th anymore , i've changed the clutch and those link rods (with the plasitc bits). ive also put new rubbers in all the linkage. so ive got no idea why she wont go in 5th

Hi,

When your gearlever is in neutral it should have an equal amount of spring each side when you wiggle the lever from side to side.
If you sit in your car and wiggle the lever to check this and if there is spring one way and not the other then you need to adjust the end rod clamp from underneath the car.
This is located at the end of the main rod from the gearlever at the engine bay and is where the linkage all starts from.It is secured by a 13mm nut and bolt and fits on a spline on the rod.You need to undoe this and move the part around a spline and try it again.
It will be either better or worse.
If worse try the other way.
It can help if someone can sit in the car and hold the gear lever in the centre of neutral while you do this.
