uM, I appear to own the droid you are looking for. It's changed a bit since you last saw it.
Bought it in September/October last year, got a build thread under projects and restos if you're interested.

thank you for the V fast response, this little driod belonged (from new) to the mum of a very good friend of mine, her mum is now very ill, the car is a lasting memory from her childhood ...... we were chatting and she wondered if it was still around
i have told her that you have it and have done a cracking job of restoring it ..... she is well happy
she is not in a position to even contemplate trying to buy it -
but if you ever do decide to sell --- could u let me know
oh and she drives fast and like them firm and sporty .....

It's not going anywhere for a while?)
But, assuming it's not a million miles away I'd be happy to get it out of the barn one weekend and hoon it up so she can get another spin in it.

Yeah - I put a similar message in my sig on the classic Audi forum asking about my Dad's old Coupe Quattro.
It was a real minter when it was sold (to South Hereford Garages) for something smaller.
I heard nothing for over a year, then got a PM out of the blue a few months ago from a guy who'd bought it in a sorry state and is restoring it!

Fantastic story!
I've often wondered if there was a John Knighton on here anywhere. He bought my GT2 in Kent in the early 90s and the devoted chap spent thousands on maintenance - he must have been an enthusiast!
