hi. ive got 1989 gt on webber carb it runs fine until you rag it a bit, then starts to try and stall all the time, until you park it up over night and its fine again until you rag it. any ideas? cheers jon

fuel filler/tank i reckon. the sediment in the fuel tank gets agitated as you drive and settles over night. my 89 scala did exactly the same thing. once i dropped the tank a fitted a new filler it was fine.

check the inline fuel filter isn't clogged.
check the inlet filter on the carb (17mm nut under the inlet pipe) isn't blocked - they're prone to corroding here if they get water in them)
open the tank and check for water/rust and tank pickup clear. if water is there, suck it out with some hose (get a syphon going) and then treat with a few doses of 'wynn's dryfuel' fuel additive

if there's rust in the tank, install a magnet in the tank to collect the rust and remedy the cause (probably the filler neck)
