Mk2 exhaust (mid & rear)

Alright folks,

Not sure if this is in the right place so feel free to move if needed mods. Got a bit of blowing so popped to the local ATS in Nottingham to get it looked at and it needs a new mid section and the back box isn't far behind either. They phoned around for me but were really struggling finding someone that could supply them with the pieces, eventually they found 2 places (don't know where) but both were £280 for both pieces which feels a little high to me? Just thought I would throw it out there and see what you guys think and if anyone can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

I may have to look at a new stainless throughout but money is a little tight so could be tricky.

Anyhows, thanks for reading.
David

Try GSF.

Tried GSF and they told me that they cannot get them. Thought I would look into a full stainless steel system but at the 550 I was quoted it is just too much.

I spoke to a guy at a local exhaust shop and he didn't have a part number for a 1.8 '89 carb mid and rear and could only find an '89 injection it isn't likely to be the same is it as he was convinced that it would be?

This is really frustrating, I never thought that I would have so much trouble with an exhaust, other parts maybe but not this :dash:

Sure you don't want to go for a 4 branch and Jetex system bud? Possibly may be worth it.

Exhausts are becomming very difficult to find, quite a few on here have had missions tracking them down.

I was looking at the Jetex systems earlier but I couldn't work out whether they were the ones for mine? Very confusing.

Given the fact that standard exhaust parts appear to be soooo expensive I know that I stainless system would be best longer term for a short term hit on the pocket.

Theres a place near me specialist VW breakers that i got my backbox from for £15. They want £15 for the over axle pipe aswell. Theyre called volksmania.
The sorta money youve bin qouted could buy a nice stainless.

I know it's a bit late, but you should have been looking at around £65 for the standard backbox and £35-£40 for the centre (+ fitting).

How much was the Jetex and where did you order it from if you don't mind me asking?

Hi stu.gtx

The Jetex was just over £200 (need to get it fitted) which I ordered through the Scirocco UK shop which was the same price as I found scouring internet.
With regards to the price for the standard exhaust I searched everywhere and couldn't find one anywhere at a decent price and the internet didn't turn anything up either. Oh well, I am a bit gutted though as the standard tailpipe looks perfect on the car and I just know I will wish I had a 'standard looking' one.

If you know of anywhere you can pick up a mid section and back box for £100 (ish) can you let me know just for future ref (always handy to know) for others. I thought GSF would be my best bet but even they couldn't get me them.

Cheers, David

I tried Eurocarparts in Gateshead and they got a price for back-box but I seem to remember he said they had no centre sections in stock. I think it was just under £100 for both sections though.
