LED Bulb Swap

Hi all,

I’m thinking about refreshing the rear light clusters on my Mk2 and wondered if anyone here has gone the whole way and replaced all the filament bulbs with LEDs — specifically the ones from Classic Car LEDs Ltd.

If you’ve done it, I’d love to hear how you got on. Any unexpected difficulties during the swap? And, most importantly, was the end result a noticeable improvement that justified the cost?

Always keen to learn from others’ experiences before diving in myself.

lots of advantages to led one of the main ones is the volt drop to the rear lights, i think mine are at 9-10v
so i did try led but i found that they didnt like the low voltage and flickered a lot
that said the newer ones may be a lot more tolerant
if using leds in the indicators will require an led indicator relay or your flash rate will be faster as the system requires a minimum current draw to work properly (think what happens when a bulb blows the indicators flash faster)
