There seems less and less activity on the forum these days. Where has everybody gone?

I suspect Facebook too. I tried it for a while but it was mostly filled with low effort posts without any attempt to search previous posts. I’m no longer on it.

I'm making my way back too. I left Facebook a long time ago, but also haven't been working on the car much until this year.
It would be handy if there was some way to include listings etc from Facebook here though. With everything dropping off eBay, that's been the main challenge for me.

ease of uploading pics is another problem too especially from my phone as keeping tech info handy for everyone was one of the most useful thing the forum is for too easy for it to go missing on fb

It's a variety of things, but the forum hasn't been as active in well over a decade as social media just became the norm.
It's not just us, many of the big forum a lot of us remember (NR, Club GTI etc) all gradually died as well so it's a testament to our resilience that we're still here to be honest.
Half the battle was pushing traffic here and getting people interested, that came from either meeting real people at events or chatting on another forum and guiding them here. Now it's just easier to QR code a link straight to the groups we run.
And you've got to look at just how phenomenally successful the group has been. It's eclipsed anything we could have done here and the exposure has undoubtedly led to other things.
I do miss the "old days" sometimes though. Many of the people I've known for decades were found either here or one of the forums we hung out out on. And it could be absolute chaos at times - people falling out, people discussing everything you could think of and idiotic, good-natured bellendry stretching across multiple forums.
Anyway, I've got to get ready for work.
But it has given me an idea. It's our 30 year anniversary next year. What better place to announce the dates and updates than the place where it all started....
