has any one got any experience fitting valve stem oil seals? i need a quick tutorial on how to do it. haynes manual isnt very clear and i dont have the vw tool to push them down to the valve guide. i was finking along the lines of a deep socket to push them down onto the head or will this damage them?

I done 16 of them like that

. Just make sure the socket is a tight as can be fit, and tap them down. Put a little bit of oil in them first before you do, make's them slide on a bit easier.

Put the valve in first and it will act as a guide for the seal, tho when you push it down into place take the valve out to avoid any chance of damaging it
Are you re-lapping the valves or has it been done already?

done and dusted, a 12mm socket fits nice on the stem seal, gave it a push an you can feel it go on, perfect!
