I used a Mk1 Golf tin top fuel filler neck when I replaced mine, the fuel filler cap sits on a very slightly different angle and I had to bend the bracket a little to fit the bolt in to hold it in place.

Thanks Mark, good to know someone has done it before!
Russ. Yes Tom says he can get a replacement Stainless one fabricated but he would need one to copy. Thanks for the replies.

There's a genuine Mk1 Scirocco filler neck advertised here:
https://vwpartsinternational.com/shop/e ... very-rare/
The part number 531201129B specified and visible in the photo is clearly a Scirocco part number, not a Golf Mk1 as listed. It takes a bayonet filler cap, not threaded.
However, other sources specify this part number is intended for carb-equipped cars up to model year 1979 (up to VIN WVWZZZ539...). Injection cars up to this VIN had part no 531201129B. From model year 1980 (VIN WVWZZZ53A... on), apparently both carb and injection used part number 531201129T.

Thanks, ouch! £208! Yes that one looks identical to the original on mine with the expanded neck. The ETKA details imply that the neck for the injection model is different but can't see anything obvious...

The only difference I can see to the one I fitted to my car (carb feed engine) is the tabs on the filler neck….
