Introducing Thor! ;)

I was approached at the NEC last November by someone wanting their non running off the road for 8 years scirocco to go to a good home. It was agreed for a charitable donation I would take the car. Last month I picked it up. On the whole I'm very impressed. Just passed the MOT. Lots of work to the fuel system. Full service, cam belt water pump etc.
Car is very interesting. First registered February 82 makes it a very early RHD car. (Wiring loom an fuse box are all MK1)Started out as a 1.6 GL but has a 1.8 injection engine fitted plus the previous owner had the seats recovered in leather.
The colour is interesting. Cirrus gray only used by VW group for 3 years 81 to 84
The previous owner had it restored. However the respray on close inspection is nothing special.
The only stipulations by the previous owner were it wasn't to be broken up, also I had to keep his name for it Thor [emoji1]

Car look to be solid and rust free.
Can’t be many of those left on the road…

WOW, what a nice example, she's scrubbed up well too. Don't get many offers like that every day!
Guess someone change the GL badge for the standard non spec type too.
Any history with it?

She looks like a beauty. Guessing she was garaged for most of her life!

Another one in great hands, as demonstrated by the before and after pics :-)

This is great this person has trusted you to bring to this early Mk2 Scirocco back from a period rest, to be on the road again :good:

I am looking forward to seeing a thread about this Scirocco in Projects and Restoration section :chill:

How much do you want for those GL alloys?

I sold this exactly a year ago.
Owner messaged me last week due to knee problems he can no longer drive it comfortably. He offered me first refusal which I took. Just got back from Rawtenstall. Running well apart from only being able to find 3 gears 😂. I will sort that in a mo.
Just a quick note this is the oldest registered RHD Scirocco known to the Register first registered 1 February (in the UK) 1982 it was manufactured in January 82

I can understand you buying it back - I'd happily buy back most of the VWs I've owned over the years. My Scirocco sold at auction last weekend - registered 1 August 1993 (L-reg), reportedly the last MK2 sold in the UK. Health and wider family responsibilities were gradually getting in the way of enjoying it. I'm not sure whether the buyer was private or trade - so far the car is showing as untaxed, with the V5C not updated
