Scirocco Register

Hi everyone
I’ve got a strange water leak on my mk2 Rocco around the boot glass seal, it’s dripping off the bottom inside edge of the glass seal and dripping over/out of the plastic cover in the boot.
The only thing I can think of is the rubbers shrunk back in the cold and waters finding a way around???
What would help fix this? I’m thinking maybe trying to inject a waterproof grease under the rubber seal lip where the glass is?
I’ve sealed the spoiler and the gas struts so I know it’s not coming through there, any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi James, ideally you need to replace the entire rubber seal, but if you bring this to autoglass or similar they will inject a bead of this stuff which works well: https://www.frost.co.uk/black-windscreen-sealer/

would this not glue the screen in and make future removal very hard?

thanks chopperoli funny as ive ordered some of that stuff
going to try full removal, clean and refit first before i go rambo on it with sealant
hopefully this is an easy fix
driving me nuts

im lucky that it seams to be leaking between the glass and the rubber rather than the rubber to the body of the boot lid
hopefully wont effect future removal

The sealant should remain flexible so it’s easy to remove once it has formed a skin in a day or two.
I had a small leak in the corner of my new windscreen and the chap who fitted it came back and used some of the sealant in the corner and it stopped the leak, 4 years later and it’s still water tight.
