model codes and option codes

Does anyone have a list of model codes and option codes?

Ive had a google but cant seem to find much.

by model code i mean the code on the rear sticker as below-

53 .. EK in the VIN of course identifies this as a Scirocco 1984 model year made by Karmann

534 C34 apparently means "Sales type" I think 534 means RHD Scirocco, but I've no idea about C34. My GT II is 534 154

Do these option codes from a list on the Club GTI forum fit for your vehicle:

197 45amp battery 12V
527 exterior mirrror (convex), adjustable from inside, passenger side
560 steel sliding roof, manual control
711 4 cylinder petrol engine (export Scirocco)
719 sales campaign 'scirocco storm'

This Club GTI thread (2nd post) is by far the most relevant I've found for the 1980s. It would be good if someone could capture the info on this forum in case the link gets lost:

thanks GT2 this vin sticker is just a picture i stole from the dr dubs page its not mine. its mor eto answer a question i saw on facebook as someone has asked if there car is a gti, i said check sales code number on the vin sticker but i cant find any reference for the model codes.

would be cool to have a list of the model codes available to all. exspecially as something quick to check when buying a car

I suspect VW themselves have lost the codes, but the Automuseum in Wolfsburg may be worth a quick email - their archivist is very helpful, I have heard in the past, but may well now be retired.
