Was running in the new engine and the oil pressure buzzer started to go off after doing 500 miles. Though it was the oil being too thin so replaced with an oil which was recommended on here somewhere.
What happens.... car starts and idles fine, warms up perfectly. When you hit above around 2k revs the oil light, buzzer and also the coolant light comes on. The coolant temperature stays in the middle of the gauge. If I just half turn the key on/off the buzzer stops until I next go above 2k.
Found ( I think ) the oil sensors, removed each in turn to see if there was a bad sensor but the problem still remained. Tried earthing a sensor to the block to stop the buzzer which did not work.
I have found a few threads on this forum about this already, I think this is beyond my capabilities as a mechanic so I was going to drop her into the VW specialist. Concerned that it would be safe for the engine to do so?
Any thoughts?

Re: Oil buzzer madness
Yes only if the engine goes over 2000rpm the buzzer will work, try and change the oil pressure sensors, white one above the oil filter and the blue on on the side of the head.

Re: Oil buzzer madness
Yes that's the 2 senors, I would try and change them 1st and if you still have the buzzer going off if could be a problem with the oil pump (possible blockage) or the buzzer in the instrument cluster is faulty. Keep the sensors if they are ok as they do leak oil when they get old.
The sensors are the easy bit to change so that's why I would change them.

Re: Oil buzzer madness
get the oil pressure tested
no point wasting good money guessing and causing more damage

Re: Oil buzzer madness
Changed the two pressure switches, still had light on dash board but the wiring looked dodgy so re-crimped everything with new connectors that I could find and it worked! Cheers

Re: Oil buzzer madness
Glad you found the fault, keep hold of the old sensors as you know they work as I've found the sensors don't last for ever as mine usually start to leak oil out of them..
