Recommendations for brake line

What have you use to make your own hard brake line, flaring kits and ends?

I’ve just had a brake hard line rust through so maybe best to replace the lots as all the same age, I’ve not done it before so I’ve no tools to bend, cut, or flare the ends.
What size ends do I need?
I’ve already fitted new flexible hoses.

Any help and pointers to what’s good and what to avoid will be great. :good:

Whole car is 3/16 hard line with m10 unions. I've gone through a load of flaring kits. The hand held ones are terrible. The best ones i've found are the style you clamp in a vise. You'll also need a pipe cutter...I have a little teng tools one which works nicely, also a pipe bending tool (Doing it by hand will often kink the line and make the bends uneven) also a deburring tool is nice as the pipe cutter will often leave a bit of a harsh edge which can affect the flares.

If you're doing a whole line and not a patch its best to pull the old one out first to use as a template.

I took the easy way out the last time I did this - removed the old lines, measured and got a local motor factor to make them up for me. Took him about 5 minutes.

I flare one end, route the pipe and cut to length, then cut the other end and flare it. Usually forgetting to put the nut on before I flare the 2nd end. I find that if you cut them to length before fitting them, they're never quite right.

i use this tool and find it by far the easiest to use on the car
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brake-Pipe-F ... 0d1b13de61
it even flares the steel pipe pretty well
be carefull though i cant remember which one you need the SAE one above or the DIN style one.
i bought both as i needed them for different cars.

I've got that one James, I find it really difficult to use on the car personally, when you tighten up the flaring too, always end up bending the line!
