Does anyone recommend a good car cover....unfortunately i do not have a garage and there are none to rent round here so i was hoping someone will be able to point me in the direction of a good car cover for outside use?
I did have a crappy halfords get out of trouble job but surprise surprise... thats now ripped!
I'm sure if there was such a thing as car social services they would of paid a visit by now

You’ll be wanting a multi-layer breathable cover. I don’t have personal experience of these since I keep my Scirocco in a garage under an indoor car cover. The medium size Cosmos indoor cover is a good fit for the Mk2. The more expensive outdoor covers have more layers and are hence heavier and provide better protection.

to be honest car covers do more damage than good, you would be far better parking it somewhere a little sheltered.
at least in the open air it can breathe and less likely to have the cover flapping against the paint which causes a lot of issues

I have a car cover and use it. I make sure that is secured otherwise wind will blow down the street. However the protection that is on them, only lasts for a couple of years and will then need replacing. A friend of mine has one of the covers that is secured down in the driveway and you pull it over but he's had problems with condensation in their. To be honest, the best protection is a garage which are hard to come-by as you say.

i resprayed my car last year and for a year it’s been outside with a stormforce car cover, it cost about £140. is a good strong cover, breathable, which means condensation does get underneath but it evaporates through it. it’s not perfect but I think it’s the best one out there as the perfect option is to use a garage! the car has been well protected and it was a very worthwise purchase. just make sure the car is completely clean when you put it on.

it’s got 4 layers, is soft on the inside, has straps underneath and an elasticated hem. if you want a cover, get a good one. cheap covers are a waste of time.

I know you guys are in the UK, but I have one made by covercraft here in the states and it's AWESOME.

Very soft and perfectly fitted... expensive but eliminates the paint rubbing issues wrote about above.

If you are tempted to splash out on a custom fit cover, check they are using the right pattern to fit your bootlid spoiler, as the size of spoiler makes a significant difference to the fit. Although these suppliers list several different trim levels, they don't list them all, and I suspect they don't have much information on the differences.

I bought an indoor cover for my GTII from Specialised Covers in the UK, but had to send it back to be modified. I had selected "Scala" as the model, as this was the closest match, but the cover they sent only allowed for the small bootlid spoiler fitted to early Mk2s, not the much bigger one fitted towards the end.

As said previously above I recommend stormforce.

The car is usual inside but when it’s not I’ve got a tailored storm force which works great. I had one on another car before buying one for the Rocco and couldn’t recommend it enough.

I have a Stormforce cover for my 85GT. It's very well made fits well dry's quickly and the under body straps keep it in place on a windy day. No replacement for a garage but a cost effective solution to keeping crustyness at bay.

Car covers do very little to protect a vehicle

If they were as amazing as the sales pitches go my absolutely mint 205 gti would still be absolutely mint and not needing a sill patch now.

Either get a carcoon style vented air chamber or accept a breathable cover will do nothing more than block bird chod and sunshine haha

They are better than nothing but there seems a market now for folk kidding themselves and paying over the odds for one. My brother got a expensive one for his exige and was massively underwhelmed.
