“O” ring for air box housing

I noticed sometime ago that my “o” ring found underneath the air box sealing the join to the carb is missing. The believe the part number is 037129625a but I cannot find a supplier anywhere.

Does anybody know where I can get one from, maybe a parts supplier, i’ve tried a few but drawn a blank. I was wondering if a length rubber fuel hose might work if I could find the correct dimensions for a correct fit. That’s desperate measures for you.

Tried eBay but not prepared to buy the whole air box, for ££££££.

I searched online for a NOS one last year, but other than a lapsed ebay listing (I think from USA), could find none. It is square section rather than round, as far as I know. There's a complete filter box for local pick in Colchester on ebay at the moment - starting bid £2.50, but I don't know if the o-ring is present. Also a seller posting from Germany - around £28 or best offer all in - again, I can't see if the o-ring is present.

i would just order a custom large o ring theres lots of places that will make one.
i have the origenal square oring but i have a weber carb and it doesnt fit down tight onto the carb properly.
so i made a gasket from some thick rubber but did think it could do with a large thick o ring

I work with autoclaves and the guy who comes to service them changed the door seals. I grabbed the old door seal cut a length off and fitted it to the airbox; seems to fit perfect. It’s resistant to heat and oils so the jobs a good un! Will have to see if the small amount of oil that used to sit on top of the carb is no more.

I had the same problem and made my own replacement using square cross section cord from here:

https://www.polymax.co.uk/rubber-cords/ ... bber-cord/

It’s easy to join using a blob of super glue. Unfortunately, I cannot remember what size was the best fit. I bought various between 4.0mm and 6.0mm and tried them. It may have been the 5.5mm, but I honestly cannot remember. My car has a Weber so I may have needed chubbier cord than OEM.

If you have something to make the o ring seal some electrical wire in the groove below helps to pack it out as a quick fix. Mine was there but thin so i packed it out and it seals way better.
